LONG-TERM CLOSURES SCHEDULED ON REAGAN MEMORIAL TOLLWAY (I-88) AND ATKINSON ROAD BRIDGE IN LEE COUNTY Closures needed through fall to safely accommodate bridge repair work DOWNERS GROVE, IL – The westbound Regan Memorial Tollway (I-88) over the Union Pacific Railroad in Lee County is scheduled to be reduced to a single lane next week for mainline bridge repairs. In addition, the local Atkinson Road Bridge over I-88 is also scheduled to close for repairs. Electronic message signs and construction signage will be in place in advance to alert drivers to construction and lane and bridge closures. Up-to-date information will be posted on the Tollway website in the Daily Construction Alert. All work is weather dependent. Beginning Monday, August 24, beginning at 6 a.m. westbound I-88 is scheduled to be reduced to a single lane for bridge deck, joint work and concrete repairs on the I-88 bridge over the Union Pacific Railroad. In addition, during the week of August 24, the Atkinson Road Bridge is scheduled to close for repair work and no detour will be posted. The full closure of the Atkinson Road Bridge is necessary because the local crossroad bridge over I-88 is too narrow to safely accommodate traffic while completing the maintenance and repair work. Work will include concrete and bridge deck repairs and sealing. On I-88, temporary lanes closures will also be needed to accommodate the local crossroad bridge work. Closures are being coordinated with Lee County and Nelson Township, as well as local fire and police departments. Maps and construction information are available in the Projects section on the Tollway’s website at illinoistollway.com. In 2026, Illinois Tollway work on the Reagan Memorial Tollway (I-88) will include repairs to local crossroad and mainline bridges in Whiteside, Lee, Ogle, Kane, and DuPage Counties. This work is part of the Tollway’s seven-year, $2 billion Bridging the Future capital plan. Work Zone Safety Construction zone speed limits are in effect in all construction zones 24/7 and drivers should continue to watch for changing traffic patterns and use caution, especially when workers are present. The Illinois Tollway reminds motorists that the “Move Over Law” requires motorists to change lanes or to slow down and proceed with caution when passing any vehicle on the side of the road with hazard lights activated. If you see flashing lights ahead, please move over or slow down. -more Reagan Memorial Tollway (I-88) Repairs — page 2 Illinois State Police have zero tolerance for drivers speeding in work zones or for failure to comply with the Move Over Law. The minimum penalty for speeding in a work zone is $250 with up to a $25,000 fine and a 14-year jail sentence for hitting a roadway worker. Penalties for failure to slow down or move over for a vehicle on the shoulder with flashing lights includes up to a $10,000 fine, 2-year suspension of driving privileges and jail time, in extreme cases. About Bridging the Future Approved by the Illinois Tollway Board of Directors in December 2024, Bridging the Future is a seven year, $2 billion plan designed to continue infrastructure improvements, bridging the gap between the agency’s current and next long-term capital program. Based on stakeholder feedback and engagement, Bridging the Future is addressing ongoing modernization initiatives and continuing to support investments in the people and firms working to improve regional mobility. About the Illinois Tollway The Illinois Tollway is a user-fee system that receives no state or federal funds for maintenance and operations. The agency maintains and operates 294 miles of roadways in 12 counties in Northern Illinois, including the Reagan Memorial Tollway (I-88), the Veterans Memorial Tollway (I-355), the Jane Addams Memorial Tollway (I-90), the Tri-State Tollway (I-94/I-294/I-80) and the Illinois Route 390

Rock River Jazz Band, Inc. is a 501c3 charitable organization whose mission is to see that the great music from the 1940s, including Swing, and Jazz, continues and to continue the tradition of a full Big Band. We provide free concerts in pleasing outdoor settings that are family friendly. Our set up is generally 5 saxes, 3-4 trombones, 4-5 trumpets, and a 3 piece rhythm section consisting of bass, keys and drum set. We provide an outlet for musicians that want to continue playing big band and jazz music from high schools, universities and various communities. We often have sub players who are currently in music programs sit in with us to supplement their experiences, giving them the opportunity to rehearse and perform with experienced musicians. We have musicians who have been performing on their instruments for over 60 years and as little as 7 years. We cannot put on these concerts without sponsors and donations. We were able to schedule 7 concerts this year between Dixon, Il. Page Park bandshell and Rock Falls, Il. RB&W Park Stage. We are in the process of checking pricing for an improved sound system so we can adequately mic our band and have a system that provides a proper set up for vocalists. Our current system cannot handle more than 3 mics or a monitor system. If you would like to donate to this cause, please visit our website where you will find our sponsor categories and information for sending donations. We are not opposed to previously owned sound systems if you know of someone who has upgraded and would be willing to sell or giveaway their old system, the value of which would be tax deductible.
